How to put one HTML file online on ship.page

  1. Drop your .html file into the browser

Open ship.page and drag your .html file onto the upload box, pick it from your drive, or paste raw HTML into the editor. If your page needs local images, CSS or JavaScript files, name the main file index.html and drop the whole folder or a .zip instead.

  2. Copy the live HTTPS link or QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS. Copy the URL to send to friends or clients, or download the PNG QR code shown on the success screen.

  3. Claim or upgrade only if you want dashboard controls

You can publish without an account and stop right there. If you want to manage the page from a dashboard, claim it with a free account using Google or an email link (no credit card), or upgrade to Pro for $4 a month to update the same link in place.

How many steps does each HTML host really take?

When you want to turn HTML into a link so a friend can open it, most drag-and-drop hosts add a sign-in gate before the link is truly usable. On ship.page it is one step: drop the .html file (or paste the code) and share the URL that appears.

Other browser drop tools let you drag a file before logging in, but add a second step right after. Netlify Drop puts an unclaimed upload behind a temporary password until you claim it with a Netlify account, and Cloudflare Drop and Vercel Drop both start a 60-minute clock that deletes the deployment unless you sign in and claim it.

GitHub Pages takes four steps: sign in to a GitHub account, create a public repository, upload your file as index.html, and turn on Pages in the repository settings.

When should you pick another host instead?

Pick ship.page when you want to host a single HTML page right now without creating an account, dealing with passwords, or racing a one-hour claim timer. Every page is served with a noindex header and is never listed publicly, so only people with your link can view it.

Pick GitHub Pages when you need a custom domain on a free non-commercial site, or when your project is up to 1 GB and already lives in Git. GitHub Pages is free for public repositories on GitHub Free with a 100 GB monthly soft bandwidth limit and 10 builds an hour, though it is not allowed for commercial, e-commerce or SaaS businesses.

Pick Netlify Drop, Cloudflare Drop (which publishes on a workers.dev address on Cloudflare Workers) or Vercel Drop if you already stay signed in to one of those clouds and want the upload inside your existing team account.

  • ship.page: 1 step, no signup, 10 MB single HTML file, 25 MB ZIP (100 MB unpacked) on Free.
  • Netlify Drop: app.netlify.com/drop, works best under 50 MB and single files over 10 MB may get stuck.
  • Cloudflare Drop: cloudflare.com/drop, takes a file, folder or ZIP, must claim within 60 minutes.
  • Vercel Drop: vercel.com/drop, static sites work without an account since October 19, 2026, expire in 1 hour unclaimed.
  • GitHub Pages: owner.github.io, up to 1 GB site size, custom domains supported, requires account and repo.

What if your HTML file has images, CSS or updates?

If everything is inline inside one .html file up to 10 MB, just upload the HTML file by itself. You can also test snippets in the HTML viewer or paste code directly into the uploader. A lone image, PDF or video is not accepted on its own, so if your page uses separate assets, put them in a folder or .zip with an index.html file at the root.

Folder uploads go up as one request of at most 10 MB with the files encoded inside it (roughly 7 MB of files), so zip anything larger first. A ZIP with a single top-level folder is unwrapped automatically, and file paths are case-sensitive.

Publishing needs no account, and you can claim any upload with a free account (no card) to manage it from a dashboard. A free page cannot be updated in place; uploading a new version creates a new link. On Pro ($4 a month, cancel anytime), pages don't expire while you're on Pro, you can re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link, add password protection, upload ZIPs up to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked) with up to 10,000 files, and claim up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.

Tip: Automating builds? You can also publish with one curl command (POST https://ship.page/deploy), the MCP server at https://ship.page/mcp, or the GitHub Action.

Questions

What is the simplest way to host a single HTML file for free?

Drag your .html file onto ship.page, or paste the HTML code into the browser uploader. You get a live HTTPS link on its own subdomain in seconds with no signup, no credit card, and no temporary visitor password.

How big can my single HTML file be?

A single HTML file can be up to 10 MB on every ship.page plan. If you bundle extra CSS, JavaScript or images into a ZIP file, the free plan accepts ZIPs up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files, and Pro raises that to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked) and 10,000 files.

Why does Netlify Drop ask my friends for a password?

When you drop a file on Netlify Drop without signing in, Netlify places the site behind a temporary password until you claim it with a Netlify account, and unclaimed drops expire on their own. On ship.page, anyone with your link can open the page right away without signing in.

Can I update my HTML file without changing the link?

On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place, so uploading a new file gives you a new link. On the Pro plan ($4 a month), you can re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link, and you also get up to 5 movable custom subdomains on ship.place.

Does ship.page run PHP, Node.js or a database?

No. ship.page hosts static files only, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON. Server code like PHP, Node.js, Python, databases and WordPress are not supported, and HTML forms require a third-party form service.
