Share an HTML file on Discord as a link
To share an HTML file on Discord so people can view it, send a live link instead of attaching the file. ship.page publishes your .html file, .zip or folder for free forever with no signup, no account and no credit card, giving you an HTTPS link in seconds for single HTML files up to 10 MB or ZIPs up to 25 MB with 100 files.
A file. A folder. A fresh start.
Your static site, one link away.
Uploading publishes your file. The link is public but unlisted, not password-protected, so leave out secrets and confidential content.

How to turn your HTML file into a Discord link
Pack your HTML and any assets
If you have a single self-contained .html file up to 10 MB, you can upload it directly. If your page uses separate CSS, JavaScript, images or fonts, name the main file index.html and put everything together in a folder or a .zip up to 25 MB (up to 100 files on the free plan).
Drop the file or ZIP onto ship.page
Open ship.page in your desktop or Android browser and drag in your .html file, .zip or folder, pick it from your device, or paste raw HTML. You do not need an account or a credit card, and your page goes live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS.
Paste the link into Discord or WhatsApp
Copy the URL from the success screen (or download the PNG QR code) and paste it into your Discord channel, DM or WhatsApp chat. If you claim the upload with a free account and the page sets no preview image of its own, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp and Telegram show a screenshot of the page as the link preview.
Ways to send an HTML file in chat or email
| Way to share | Opens as a page | Keeps CSS and images | Account |
|---|---|---|---|
| email attachment | Downloads file; may open as code on phones | Missing when only the .html travels | Email account |
| Google Drive or Dropbox link | No, downloads file or shows raw code | No, does not render linked assets | Google or Dropbox account |
| ship.page link | Yes, opens in any browser over HTTPS | Yes, when uploaded in a folder or ZIP | No account needed to publish |
Why attaching a .html file in Discord does not work
When you drop a .html file directly into a Discord chat or send it as an attachment, Discord treats it as a file download or shows a raw code preview, not a rendered web page. On Android and iOS, tapping a downloaded HTML attachment often opens a plain text viewer showing tags instead of your layout, and if you only send the .html file, any linked CSS stylesheets, images or scripts stay behind on your computer.
When you turn an HTML file into a link, anyone in the chat can click it and view the rendered page in their browser on desktop or mobile. You can also use this method whenever you need to share an HTML file on WhatsApp, Slack or Telegram, or help someone open an HTML file on a phone without installing a file manager.
How to get a visual link preview in Discord and WhatsApp
You can publish on ship.page without an account, and anyone with the URL can open it right away while a noindex header keeps it out of search engines. If you claim your uploaded page with a free account using Google or an email link (no credit card), you can manage it from a dashboard.
A ship.page page claimed to an account that sets no preview image of its own automatically shows a screenshot of itself as the link preview in Discord, Slack, WhatsApp and Telegram. The success screen also gives you a website QR code with a PNG download for sharing in person.
Why Google Drive, Dropbox and other tools fall short
Cloud storage links no longer work for hosting HTML pages. Google Drive deprecated googledrive.com/host on August 31, 2015 and shut it down on August 31, 2016, so a shared HTML file no longer opens as a working page. Dropbox stopped rendering HTML in shared links for free accounts on October 3, 2016 (shared .html files download instead of opening), and Public folder links stopped working for Basic users on March 15, 2017 and for all users on September 1, 2017.
Netlify Drop (app.netlify.com/drop) is another drag-and-drop option that takes a folder, ZIP or single HTML file with no account needed to start, and it is a good pick if you already use Netlify for your main projects. However, a site dropped without signing in stays behind a temporary password until you claim it with a Netlify account, and Netlify's blog notes an unclaimed drop expires on its own. Netlify's Drop docs also state that deploys under 50 MB work best and single files over 10 MB may get stuck.
- ship.page free limits: 10 MB per single HTML file, 25 MB per ZIP (100 MB unpacked), 100 files per upload, 10 deploys a minute.
- Folder uploads go up as one request of at most 10 MB with the files encoded inside it (roughly 7 MB of files); zip bigger folders first.
- Static files only: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON work, with no PHP, Node.js, Python or databases.
- For client-side routing in single-page apps, use hash routes (#/about) because there is no single-page-app fallback.
Tip: File paths on ship.page are case-sensitive, so make sure your image and script links match your exact file names.
When to upgrade to Pro for $4 a month
A free page cannot be updated in place; uploading a new version creates a new link, and free pages show a small Hosted on ship.page badge that visitors can close. If you post a link in a pinned Discord message and want to edit the page later without breaking the URL, Pro is $4 a month (monthly billing, cancel anytime, no yearly plan).
Pro pages do not expire while you are on Pro (or you can pick any expiry from 60 seconds), let you re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link, remove the badge, and add password protection. Pro also raises the limit to 100 MB ZIPs (400 MB unpacked), 10,000 files per upload and 120 deploys a minute, and includes up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place that you can point at any of your pages.
Questions
How do I share an HTML file on Discord so it opens as a web page?
Upload your .html file, folder or .zip to ship.page in your browser with no signup required, then copy the live HTTPS link and paste it into Discord. Everyone in the channel can click the link to open the working page instead of downloading raw code.
How do I make a link from an HTML file on Android for WhatsApp or Discord?
Open ship.page in your Android browser, tap to pick your .html file (up to 10 MB) or .zip file (up to 25 MB), or paste your HTML code directly. You get a shareable link in seconds with no account or credit card needed.
Will Discord show a preview of my HTML page?
Yes, if you claim the page with a free ship.page account using Google or an email link. When a page claimed to an account sets no preview image of its own, it shows a screenshot of itself as the link preview in Discord, Slack, WhatsApp and Telegram.
Can I share an HTML file that uses CSS, JavaScript and images?
Yes. Name your main file index.html, place it in a folder or .zip with your CSS, JavaScript and image files, and upload it to ship.page. A single top folder inside a ZIP is unwrapped automatically, and the free plan supports ZIPs up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files.
Can I use Google Drive or Dropbox to send a working HTML link?
No. Google Drive shut down googledrive.com/host on August 31, 2016, and Dropbox stopped rendering HTML files for free accounts on October 3, 2016 and ended Public folder links for all users on September 1, 2017. Both services now download the file or show raw code instead of opening the web page.
Can I update my HTML page after I post the link in Discord?
On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place, so a new upload gets a new link. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can re-upload or edit your page and keep the exact same link, and you also get up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.
