How to host an HTML file in seconds

  1. Save your page as .html or pack a folder

If you have one self-contained page, any .html file up to 10 MB works as is. If your page uses separate CSS, JavaScript, images or fonts, name the homepage index.html and keep the files in a folder (up to roughly 7 MB of files) or a .zip up to 25 MB.

  2. Drop it on ship.page or paste the HTML

Open ship.page in your browser and drag in your .html file, .zip or folder, pick it with the file chooser, or paste raw HTML straight from your clipboard. You do not need to create an account or enter a credit card.

  3. Copy the live link or download the QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS. Copy the URL or download the PNG QR code from the success screen to open the page on a phone or send it to anyone.

What other drag-and-drop hosts ask for before the link works

Most browser drop tools let you start without signing in, then gate the link until you create an account. If you want to upload an HTML file and send a working URL right away, check what visitors will see when they click it.

ship.page opens straight to your page as soon as the upload finishes, with no visitor password and no 60-minute claim clock. You can publish without an account, or claim the page with a free account (sign in with Google or an email link, no card) to manage it from a dashboard.

  • Netlify Drop (app.netlify.com/drop): accepts a single HTML file, ZIP or folder with no account to start, but an unclaimed drop sits behind a temporary password and expires on its own until you claim it with a Netlify account. Deploys under 50 MB work best and single files over 10 MB may get stuck.
  • Cloudflare Drop (cloudflare.com/drop): publishes a single HTML file, ZIP or folder to a workers.dev address on Cloudflare Workers without an account to start, but you must claim the deployment within 60 minutes with a Cloudflare account to keep it.
  • Vercel Drop (vercel.com/drop): deploys a static file, folder or ZIP from the browser with no Git, CLI or account since October 19, 2026, but unclaimed static deployments expire after one hour unless you sign in and claim the project.
  • GitHub Pages: free for public repositories on GitHub Free, with sites up to 1 GB at owner.github.io, a 100 GB monthly soft bandwidth limit and a soft limit of 10 builds an hour. It requires a GitHub account and repository first, supports custom domains, and is not allowed as free hosting for commercial, e-commerce or SaaS businesses.

Tip: Pick GitHub Pages when you need a custom domain or up to 1 GB of repo storage and do not mind setting up a public Git repository first.

Single file vs. folder or ZIP: what works on ship.page

If your page has inline styles and scripts, you can host a single HTML page up to 10 MB or use the paste box as an online HTML viewer that produces a shareable URL. A lone PDF, image or video file is not accepted by itself; put it in a folder or ZIP alongside an index.html file.

For multi-file sites, index.html is always the homepage, and a ZIP with a single top-level folder is unwrapped automatically. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON all work, while server code like PHP, Node.js, Python, databases and WordPress does not run.

  • Free plan limits: 10 MB per single HTML file, 25 MB per ZIP (100 MB unpacked), 100 files per upload and 10 deploys a minute.
  • Folder uploads: sent as one encoded request of at most 10 MB (roughly 7 MB of files) on every plan; zip anything larger before uploading.
  • URL paths and case: paths are case-sensitive. A file named about.html opens at /about.html, while /about/ works when you upload about/index.html.
  • Routing and compression: there is no single-page-app fallback, no custom 404 page and no Content-Encoding header, so client-side routers should use hash routes like #/about and builds should not rely on pre-compressed .br or .gz files without a JavaScript decompressor.

Privacy, updates and when to use Pro

Every upload is served with a noindex HTTP header so search engines do not list it, and ship.page never publishes a public directory of uploads. Anyone with the link can open it, and free pages show a small "Hosted on ship.page" badge that visitors can close.

When you turn HTML into a link on the free plan, the page cannot be edited in place; uploading a new version gives you a new URL. Pro is $4 a month (monthly billing, cancel anytime, no yearly plan): pages do not expire while you are on Pro (or you can pick any expiry from 60 seconds), you can re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link, and the badge is removed.

Pro also adds password protection, ZIPs up to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked), 10,000 files per upload, 120 deploys a minute and up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place (3 to 40 characters of a-z, 0-9 and single hyphens) that you can point at any of your pages and move anytime. If you automate builds, you can also deploy with one curl command (POST https://ship.page/deploy), the MCP server at https://ship.page/mcp, or the GitHub Action.

Questions

Can I host an HTML file online for free without creating an account?

Yes. Drop an .html file, .zip or folder on ship.page, or paste your HTML, and you get a live HTTPS link in seconds without signing up or entering a credit card. If you want to manage the page from a dashboard later, you can claim it with a free account using Google or an email link.

Will visitors see a password screen or have to log in to view my link?

No. On ship.page, anyone with your link can open the page right away in any browser. By contrast, an unclaimed Netlify Drop stays behind a temporary password until you sign in and claim it.

What is the maximum file size for instant HTML hosting on ship.page?

A single HTML file can be up to 10 MB on every plan. On the free plan, ZIP uploads can be up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files, and on the $4 a month Pro plan, ZIPs can be up to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked) with up to 10,000 files.

Can I update my HTML file later and keep the same URL?

Updating a page in place while keeping the same URL is a Pro feature ($4 a month, cancel anytime). On the free plan, each new upload creates a new link, while Pro also gives you up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place that you can point to any of your pages.

Does ship.page support CSS, JavaScript, images and custom domains?

CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON all work when you upload them in a folder or ZIP with an index.html homepage. Custom domains are not offered on any plan; if you need your own domain name, use GitHub Pages or claim a drop on Netlify, Cloudflare or Vercel.
