How to get a live link for your HTML file

  1. Save your HTML file or bundle your assets

If your page has inline CSS and JavaScript, save it as a single .html file up to 10 MB. If it uses separate stylesheets, scripts, or images, name the main page index.html and keep everything in one folder or a .zip file up to 25 MB.

  2. Drop the file, folder, or ZIP onto ship.page

Open ship.page in your browser and drag in your .html file, folder, or .zip archive, or paste raw HTML directly into the editor. You do not need an account or credit card to publish.

  3. Copy the HTTPS link or download the QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS. Copy the URL to share it right away, or download the PNG QR code shown on the success screen.

  4. Claim the page later if you want a dashboard

You can publish without an account and walk away with a working link. If you want to manage your upload from a dashboard, claim the page with a free account using Google or an email link, with no credit card.

Why you do not need to buy web hosting for an HTML file

Traditional web hosting plans charge a monthly fee to run a server with PHP, Python, Node.js, or a database like WordPress. A plain HTML file does not use any server code because the visitor's browser reads the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript directly.

When you just want to turn an HTML file into a link, setting up a server or paying for a hosting subscription is unnecessary work. On ship.page, you drop the file into the browser and get a public HTTPS URL in seconds with no bandwidth limits and unlimited uploads.

How browser drop tools compare when you skip signup

Several big cloud hosts now offer drag-and-drop pages, but most require an account before your link works for other people or stays online past an hour. If you want to upload an HTML file and send the link to a client or classmate right away, check what happens after the drop.

  • ship.page: takes .html files up to 10 MB, folders, and ZIPs up to 25 MB (100 files) with no account; anyone with the link can open it immediately.
  • Netlify Drop (app.netlify.com/drop): accepts a single HTML file, folder, or ZIP with no build step, and works best under 50 MB (single files over 10 MB may get stuck), but puts anonymous drops behind a temporary password until you claim the site with a Netlify account.
  • Cloudflare Drop (cloudflare.com/drop): publishes a single HTML file, folder, or ZIP to a workers.dev address on Cloudflare Workers without an account to start, but you must claim the deployment within 60 minutes with a Cloudflare account to keep it.
  • Vercel Drop (vercel.com/drop): deploys a static file, folder, or ZIP from the browser with no Git or CLI and no account since October 19, 2026, but unclaimed static deployments expire after one hour (framework projects require signing in).
  • GitHub Pages: hosts static sites up to 1 GB at owner.github.io with a 100 GB monthly soft bandwidth limit and 10 builds an hour, and supports custom domains, but requires a GitHub account, a public repository on GitHub Free, and forbids commercial, e-commerce, or SaaS business hosting.

Tip: Pick GitHub Pages when you need a custom domain or up to 1 GB of storage and do not mind setting up a public Git repository.

What works inside a single HTML file or folder upload

You can host a single HTML page or a multi-file static site with CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly, and JSON. If you upload a folder or ZIP, name your entry file index.html; a ZIP with a single top folder is unwrapped automatically.

File paths are case-sensitive, and a file saved as about.html opens at /about.html (use about/index.html if you want the /about path). Because there is no single-page-app fallback or custom 404 page, client-side apps should use hash routes like #/about.

You cannot upload a lone PDF, image, or video file by itself; wrap it inside a folder or ZIP alongside an index.html file. Folders upload as one request up to 10 MB with the files encoded inside (roughly 7 MB of raw files), so zip larger folders first.

Updating your page, privacy, and Pro options

Every uploaded page is served with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page never lists uploads in a public directory. Free pages show a small Hosted on ship.page badge that visitors can close, and cannot be updated in place; uploading a new version creates a new link.

If you need to update a page and keep the same URL, Pro is $4 a month (billed monthly, cancel anytime) and pages do not expire while you are on Pro. Pro removes the badge, adds password protection, lets you pick any expiry from 60 seconds, raises limits to 100 MB ZIPs (400 MB unpacked), 10,000 files, and 120 deploys a minute, and includes up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.

If you only want to inspect code in your browser before publishing, you can also test it in an online HTML viewer. Developers who want to automate uploads can publish with one curl command (POST https://ship.page/deploy), the MCP server at https://ship.page/mcp, or the GitHub Action.

Questions

Can I publish an HTML file online without buying hosting?

Yes. You can drag and drop your .html file onto ship.page, or paste the HTML code directly, and get a live HTTPS link in seconds. The free plan is free forever with no signup, no credit card, and no bandwidth limits.

Do I need an account to share my HTML link with other people?

No. On ship.page you can publish without an account and anyone with the link can open it right away. Tools like Netlify Drop put unclaimed uploads behind a temporary password, and Cloudflare Drop and Vercel Drop expire unclaimed static uploads after 60 minutes.

What are the file size limits for free HTML uploads?

On ship.page, a single HTML file can be up to 10 MB on every plan. On the free plan, you can also upload a ZIP up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) containing up to 100 files, at up to 10 deploys a minute.

Can I include images and CSS with my HTML file?

Yes. Put your index.html file along with your CSS, JavaScript, and images into a folder or a ZIP file and drop it onto ship.page. Folder uploads support roughly 7 MB of files in one 10 MB request, while ZIP uploads support up to 25 MB on the free plan and 100 MB on Pro.

Will search engines index my uploaded HTML file?

No. Every page published on ship.page is sent with a noindex header so search engines do not list it, and there is no public directory of uploads. Only people who have your link can view the page.

Can I update my HTML file without changing the link?

On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place, so uploading an edited file gives you a new URL. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can re-upload or edit your page and keep the exact same link, or point one of up to 5 custom subdomains (like yourname.ship.place) at any of your pages.
