How to host a single HTML file on ship.page

  1. Save your page as an .html file or copy the code

Any self-contained .html file up to 10 MB works out of the box, with inline CSS, JavaScript, SVG and data URLs. If your page loads separate images, stylesheets or scripts, put index.html and those assets in one folder or a .zip up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked, up to 100 files on the free plan).

  2. Drop the file into ship.page in your browser

Open ship.page and drag your .html file, folder or .zip onto the uploader, pick it from your computer, or paste raw HTML straight into the box. You do not need an account or a credit card to publish.

  3. Share the live HTTPS link or download the QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS, and the success screen includes a QR code with a PNG download. You can claim the page later with a free account (Google or email link, no card) to manage it from a dashboard.

Why most static hosts are overkill for one HTML file

Most static hosting platforms were built for full frameworks, Git workflows and build pipelines. When all you have is a single index.html exported from an AI chat, a prototype, a report or a class assignment, creating a repository or configuring a project takes longer than writing the page.

If you just want to upload an HTML file and send someone a link, skip the account wall. On ship.page you drop the file into your browser (or paste the markup) and get a public HTTPS URL right away, with no visitor password and no bandwidth meter.

When to pick another free host instead

ship.page is built for speed and zero setup, not for every hosting job. Another tool on this list is the better fit in a few clear cases:

  • You need a custom domain such as yourcompany.com: use Cloudflare Pages (up to 100 custom domains per project) or GitHub Pages (for non-commercial sites), because ship.page does not offer custom domains on any plan.
  • Your single HTML file is between 10 MB and 25 MiB: use Cloudflare Pages Direct Upload, since ship.page caps a single file at 10 MB on every plan.
  • You already push code to GitHub and want automatic deploys on every commit for a non-commercial project: use GitHub Pages.
  • You need server code such as PHP, Node.js, Python, a database or WordPress: none of these static hosts run server code, and forms on static pages need a third-party form service.

What happens after you upload to ship.page

You can publish without an account, or sign in with Google or an email link (no credit card) to claim the page and manage it from a dashboard. Every uploaded page sends a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public; only people with the link can open it.

A free page shows a small "Hosted on ship.page" badge that visitors can close, and a new upload gets a new link. If you want to host a single HTML page that you can update in place, Pro is $4 a month (cancel anytime, no yearly lock-in): Pro pages don't expire while you're on Pro (or you can pick any expiry from 60 seconds), keep the same URL when you re-upload or edit, support password protection, remove the badge, raise ZIP uploads to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked, 10,000 files) and include up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.

Tip: Automating deploys from a script or AI agent? You can also turn HTML to a URL with one curl command (POST https://ship.page/deploy), the MCP server at https://ship.page/mcp, or the GitHub Action.

Tips for single-file and small multi-file uploads

  • The browser uploader accepts .html files, .zip files, folders and pasted HTML; a lone PDF, image or video is not accepted unless you put it in a folder or ZIP with an index.html.
  • Folder uploads travel in a single request of at most 10 MB with the files encoded inside (roughly 7 MB of files); zip larger folders first to use the 25 MB free ZIP limit (100 MB on Pro).
  • A ZIP with a single top-level folder is unwrapped automatically so index.html sits at the root of your site.
  • File paths are case-sensitive, and a file named about.html opens at /about.html (use about/index.html if you want the short /about path).
  • Files are served as-is with no Content-Encoding header and no single-page-app fallback, so turn off .br or .gz pre-compression and use hash routes (#/about) for client-side routers.

Questions

Where can I host a single HTML file for free without signing up?

ship.page lets you drag and drop a single .html file up to 10 MB, a folder or a .zip up to 25 MB, or paste HTML in the browser with no account and no credit card. Your page goes live in seconds on its own HTTPS subdomain, with no visitor password.

Does Netlify Drop still work without an account?

You can drop a single HTML file, folder or ZIP at app.netlify.com/drop without signing in first, and deploys under 50 MB with single files under 10 MB work best. However, an unclaimed Netlify Drop stays behind a temporary password and expires on its own until you claim it with a Netlify account.

What is the file size limit for a single HTML file on ship.page?

A single .html file can be up to 10 MB on every plan. If your page has separate images, CSS or JavaScript, you can upload a ZIP up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked, 100 files) on the free plan, or up to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked, 10,000 files) on the $4 a month Pro plan.

Can I update my HTML file without changing the link?

On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place and a new upload gets a new URL. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can re-upload or edit your HTML page and keep the same link, and you also get up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place that you can point at any of your pages.

Will search engines index my uploaded HTML file?

No. Every page hosted on ship.page is served with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public. Anyone who has the link can open the page, and Pro ($4 a month) adds optional password protection.
