How to put your ChatGPT website online

  1. Copy or download the code from ChatGPT

If ChatGPT gave you one block of HTML, copy the code or save it on your computer as index.html. If it gave you separate HTML, CSS, JavaScript and image files, put them all in one folder with index.html as the homepage.

  2. Drop the file, folder or ZIP onto ship.page

Open ship.page in your browser and paste your HTML directly, or drag in your .html file, folder or .zip file. You do not need to create an account or enter a credit card.

  3. Share your live HTTPS link or QR code

Your site is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS, and the success screen gives you a QR code with a PNG download. You can claim the page later with a free account (Google or email link, no card) to manage it from a dashboard.

Which tool should you use to host ChatGPT HTML?

ship.page is the fastest route when you just have ChatGPT's code and want a public link right away. You can paste HTML or drop an index.html file, folder or ZIP in the browser without creating an account, or connect the ChatGPT guide MCP server at https://ship.page/mcp so ChatGPT can publish the site for you. Developers can also publish with one curl command (POST https://ship.page/deploy) or the GitHub Action.

Other drag-and-drop tools add friction if you do not want to sign up. Netlify Drop (app.netlify.com/drop) accepts a folder, ZIP or single HTML file without an account, but an unclaimed drop stays behind a temporary password and expires on its own until you sign in and claim it. Vercel Drop (vercel.com/drop) lets you drop a static file, folder or ZIP without an account (since October 19, 2026), but anonymous deployments expire after one hour unless you sign in and claim the project, and framework projects require an account.

Pick GitHub Pages when you need a custom domain (which ship.page does not offer on any plan) or up to 1 GB of storage. GitHub Pages is free for public repositories on GitHub Free at owner.github.io, with a 100 GB monthly soft bandwidth limit and 10 builds an hour, though it requires a GitHub account and is not allowed as free hosting for a commercial, e-commerce or SaaS business.

Single HTML file vs folders and ZIP archives

Ask ChatGPT for a single index.html file with the CSS inside a style tag and the JavaScript inside a script tag if you want the simplest upload. You can paste that code straight into ship.page or drop the .html file (up to 10 MB on every plan) without touching folders or file paths. Look at how to publish AI-generated HTML if you need help saving the code from the chat window.

When your project includes local images, fonts, audio, video or separate .css and .js files, put everything in one folder with index.html at the top. A browser folder upload goes up as a single request of at most 10 MB with the files encoded inside it (roughly 7 MB of raw files), so zip larger folders first. A ZIP with a single top folder is unwrapped automatically, and the free plan takes ZIPs up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files.

  • A lone PDF, image or video file is not accepted; put it in a folder or ZIP with an index.html.
  • File paths are case-sensitive, so Hero.png in your code will not load hero.png in your folder.
  • A page saved as about.html opens at /about.html; the short /about path only works when the file is about/index.html.
  • On ship.page, opening or refreshing a client-side route like /about directly returns 404 because there is no single-page-app fallback; ask ChatGPT to use hash routes like /#/about, or use Netlify, Cloudflare Pages or Vercel to rewrite every path to index.html.
  • Only static files work (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON); server code like PHP, Node.js, Python, databases or WordPress will not run, and contact forms need a third-party form service.

How to update your page after ChatGPT makes changes

Publish without an account any time you want a fresh link, or claim your upload with a free account (sign in with Google or an email link, no card required) to see and manage your pages from a dashboard. A free page cannot be updated in place; uploading a new version from your ChatGPT website workflow creates a new link, and free pages show a small "Hosted on ship.page" badge that visitors can close.

If you already sent the link or QR code to people and want to keep the same URL when ChatGPT revises your site, Pro is $4 a month (billed monthly, cancel anytime, no yearly plan). Pro pages don't expire while you're on Pro (or you can pick any expiry from 60 seconds), let you re-upload or edit a page in place without changing the link, remove the badge, and add password protection. Pro also raises the limits to 100 MB ZIPs (400 MB unpacked), 10,000 files per upload and 120 deploys a minute, and includes up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place that you can point at any of your pages while keeping the original random URL.

Tip: Every uploaded page is sent with a noindex header and is never listed in a public directory on ship.page, so search engines leave it out while anyone with your link can open it.

Questions

ChatGPT gave me HTML code. How do I turn it into a live website?

Copy the code from ChatGPT and paste it directly into ship.page, or save it on your computer as index.html and drag the file into the browser uploader. You get a live HTTPS link and a downloadable PNG QR code in seconds with no account and no credit card.

Can ChatGPT publish the website to ship.page by itself?

Yes, you can connect the ship.page MCP server at https://ship.page/mcp so ChatGPT can deploy the HTML for you and return the live link in the chat. You can also publish from a terminal with one curl command to POST https://ship.page/deploy.

Why are my images or CSS missing after I upload my ChatGPT website?

If you uploaded only index.html, the browser cannot find images or stylesheets that are still on your computer. Put index.html, your CSS, JavaScript and image files into one folder or a ZIP file and upload the whole bundle, and make sure the file names match the exact uppercase and lowercase letters in your code.

How does ship.page compare to Netlify Drop and Vercel Drop for ChatGPT HTML?

ship.page gives you a live public link immediately with no signup. Netlify Drop puts anonymous uploads behind a temporary password until you create a Netlify account to claim the site, and Vercel Drop expires anonymous static deployments after one hour unless you sign in and claim the project.

Can I edit my ChatGPT website and keep the same link?

On the free plan, pages cannot be edited in place, so uploading a revised file from ChatGPT gives you a new link. On the $4 a month Pro plan, your pages don't expire while you're on Pro, you can re-upload or edit a page while keeping the same link, and you can claim up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.
