HTML file opens as code on your phone? Fix it
Open ship.page in your phone's browser, tap to pick your .html or .zip file from Files, and copy the live HTTPS link for free with no signup and no app. Unlike a local download that opens as raw text, a page served over HTTPS opens as a real web page. The free forever plan takes HTML files up to 10 MB and ZIPs up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files per upload.
A file. A folder. A fresh start.
Your static site, one link away.
Uploading publishes your file. The link is public but unlisted, not password-protected, so leave out secrets and confidential content.

How to publish an HTML file from your phone
Save your file or compress your folder
Make sure your file is saved to your phone's Files app as an .html file. Most phone browsers cannot pick an unzipped folder, so if your project has separate CSS, JavaScript, or image files, compress the folder into a .zip file with index.html as the homepage.
Open ship.page in your phone browser
Visit ship.page in Safari, Chrome, or any mobile browser. You do not need to install an app, create an account, or enter a credit card.
Tap the uploader and pick your file
Tap the upload box to open your phone's file picker and choose your .html file (up to 10 MB) or .zip file (up to 25 MB). You can also paste raw HTML code directly into the browser.
Copy the HTTPS link or save the QR code
Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS. Copy the link to open it as a real web page, or download the PNG from the website QR code on the success screen.

Why a downloaded HTML file opens as text on a phone
When you tap a downloaded .html file in a phone's file manager, email app, or chat app, the operating system often opens it inside a built-in document viewer or plain text preview. Instead of running your scripts and layout, the viewer shows the raw tags or blocks JavaScript for security.
When you upload an HTML file to ship.page, it is served over HTTPS from its own subdomain just like any other website. Tapping that link opens the full mobile browser engine, so your layout, styles, and scripts work the way you built them.
How to email an HTML file so it opens as a page
Email clients block scripts and strip CSS from HTML attachments, and recipients who tap an attached .html file on a phone usually see raw code. Instead of attaching the file, convert your HTML to a link first and paste that URL into the email.
Every uploaded page is sent with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public. Anyone who has the link can open the HTML file in their browser right away.
- Single .html files up to 10 MB work on both Free and Pro plans.
- Multi-file projects work as a .zip up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) and 100 files on Free.
- A ZIP with a single top folder is unwrapped automatically so index.html becomes the homepage.
- Static files work out of the box: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly, and JSON.
Tip: File paths are case-sensitive, so make sure image and script names in your HTML match the exact uppercase and lowercase letters of your files.
Managing your link or upgrading to Pro
You can publish without an account, or claim the page with a free account (sign in with Google or an email link, no card) to manage it from a dashboard. On the free forever plan, you get unlimited uploads, no bandwidth limits, and 10 deploys a minute, though a free page cannot be updated in place and a new upload gets a new link.
If you want to update your page from your phone without changing the URL, Pro is $4 a month (monthly billing, cancel anytime). Pro pages do not expire while you are on Pro, or you can pick any expiry from 60 seconds, and Pro removes the small closable Hosted on ship.page badge.
- Re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link on Pro.
- Password protection for private drafts and client previews.
- Up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place (3 to 40 characters of a-z, 0-9, and single hyphens).
- Bigger ZIPs up to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked), 10,000 files per upload, and 120 deploys a minute.
When GitHub Pages is the better pick
If you need a custom domain or up to 1 GB of site storage, GitHub Pages is the better fit. Neither Free nor Pro on ship.page offers custom domains, while GitHub Pages supports them on public repositories for free.
GitHub Pages requires a GitHub account and a repository, and it is not allowed as free hosting for a commercial, e-commerce, or SaaS business. Its web uploader (Add file, Upload files) takes up to 100 files at a time and 25 MiB per file without Git installed, then publishes from a branch you pick under Settings, Pages at username.github.io/repository a few minutes later (with a soft bandwidth limit of 100 GB a month and 10 builds an hour).
Questions
Why does my HTML file open as plain text or code on my phone?
Phone mail apps and file managers open downloaded .html files in a built-in viewer or text preview instead of a full web browser. Uploading the file to ship.page serves it over HTTPS on its own subdomain, so your phone opens it as a live web page.
How do I publish an HTML folder with images and CSS from a phone?
Most mobile browsers cannot select an unzipped folder in the file picker. Compress your folder into a .zip file in your phone's Files app with index.html inside, then upload the ZIP to ship.page (up to 25 MB and 100 files on the free plan).
How do I email an HTML file so the recipient sees the rendered page?
Upload the .html or .zip file to ship.page for free with no signup, copy the HTTPS link, and paste the link into your email. The recipient taps the link and sees the rendered page in their browser instead of a raw code attachment.
Do I need an account or an app to host HTML from my phone?
No. You can upload directly in your mobile browser with no app, no account, and no credit card. If you want to manage your upload later from a dashboard, you can claim it with a free account using Google or an email link.
Can I update the HTML file later without changing the link?
On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place, so uploading a new version creates a new link. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can re-upload or edit a page and keep the exact same link, plus claim up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.
Can I upload a PDF, image, or PHP file by itself?
No. The uploader accepts .html files, .zip files, folders, and pasted HTML, and it hosts static files only (no PHP, Node.js, Python, databases, or WordPress). To include a PDF, image, or video, put it inside a ZIP with an index.html file.
