How to publish one HTML page on ship.page

  1. Save your page as an .html file

Keep your styles and scripts inside one .html file up to 10 MB, or put your index.html and its images or CSS into a folder or a .zip up to 25 MB. If you only have raw code in an editor, copy the HTML to your clipboard.

  2. Drop the file, folder or code onto ship.page

Open ship.page in your browser and drag your .html file, .zip or folder into the box, click to pick it from your computer, or paste your HTML directly. You do not need an account or a credit card.

  3. Copy your live HTTPS link or QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS. Copy the URL to send to friends, or download the PNG QR code from the success screen.

  4. Claim or upgrade only if you want dashboard controls

Publish without an account, or claim the page with a free account (sign in with Google or an email link, no card) to manage it from a dashboard. Pro is $4 a month if you want to re-upload to the same link, add a password, or use custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.

What makes one HTML file work as a complete website

A single .html file is already a full webpage when your CSS styles sit inside a style tag and your JavaScript sits inside a script tag. When you upload an HTML file up to 10 MB on ship.page, the browser uploader puts it online as-is over HTTPS with no build step and no repository.

If your page loads separate images, fonts, audio, video, JSON or WebAssembly files, put them in a folder or a .zip with your homepage named index.html. On the free plan, a ZIP can be up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files, and a folder upload goes up as one request of at most 10 MB (roughly 7 MB of files). Bigger folders should be zipped first, and file paths are case-sensitive.

How other browser drop tools compare for a single page

Several hosting platforms have a drag-and-drop page, but they ask for an account before your link works normally for other people. If you just want to turn HTML into a link and send it to a friend right away, check what happens after you drop the file.

  • Netlify Drop (app.netlify.com/drop): takes a single HTML file, folder or ZIP (deploys under 50 MB work best and single files over 10 MB may get stuck), but an anonymous drop stays behind a temporary password until you claim it with a Netlify account, and unclaimed drops expire.
  • Cloudflare Drop (cloudflare.com/drop): takes a single HTML file, folder or ZIP and publishes on a workers.dev address using Cloudflare Workers, but you must claim it within 60 minutes with a Cloudflare account to keep it.
  • Vercel Drop (vercel.com/drop): deploys a static file, folder or ZIP from the browser without an account (since October 19, 2026), but the deployment expires after one hour unless you sign in and claim the project.
  • GitHub Pages: requires a GitHub account and a public repository on GitHub Free, gives you up to 1 GB at owner.github.io with a 100 GB monthly soft bandwidth limit and 10 builds an hour, and supports custom domains, though it is not allowed for commercial, e-commerce or SaaS businesses.

Tip: Pick GitHub Pages when you need a custom domain on a non-commercial site and do not mind setting up a public Git repository. Pick ship.page when you want a live link in seconds with no login and no password gate for visitors.

What happens after your HTML page is live on ship.page

Every page you publish gets its own subdomain over HTTPS and a noindex header, which tells search engines not to list it. ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public, so only people who have your link or QR code can open the page. If you only want to check how a file renders, you can also use it as an HTML viewer.

You can publish without an account, or claim the upload with a free account (no credit card) to manage it from a dashboard. Free pages show a small Hosted on ship.page badge that visitors can close, and a new upload gets a new link.

When you want to host a single HTML page that you update over time, Pro is $4 a month (billed monthly, cancel anytime). Pro pages do not expire while you are on Pro (or you can pick any expiry from 60 seconds), let you re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link, remove the badge, add password protection, raise ZIP limits to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked) and 10,000 files, and include up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.

What a static HTML host does not run

ship.page serves static files only: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON. It does not run server code such as PHP, Node.js, Python, a database or WordPress, so contact forms need a third-party form service.

Files are served as they are with no Content-Encoding, and there is no single-page-app fallback or custom 404 page. If your JavaScript app uses client-side routes, use hash routes like #/about so refreshes keep working.

Questions

How do I publish one HTML file as a website for free?

Go to ship.page and drag your .html file into the browser, pick it from your computer, or paste the HTML code. It publishes for free with no signup and no credit card, and gives you a live HTTPS link and QR code in seconds.

Can my friends open the link without a password or account?

Yes, anyone with your ship.page link can open it right away without logging in or entering a password. By comparison, an unclaimed drop on Netlify Drop stays behind a temporary password until you sign in and claim it.

What is the size limit for one HTML page on ship.page?

A single .html file can be up to 10 MB on every plan. If you have extra images, stylesheets or scripts, put them in a ZIP up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked, up to 100 files) on the free plan, or up to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked, up to 10,000 files) on the $4 a month Pro plan.

Can I update my HTML page later and keep the same URL?

On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place and a new upload gets a new link. On the Pro plan ($4 a month), you can re-upload or edit your page and keep the exact same link, plus point up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place at any of your pages.

Will my HTML page show up on Google?

No. Every uploaded page on ship.page is sent with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and uploads are never listed in a public directory. Only people you share the link with can view it.

Can I use a custom domain for my single HTML page?

ship.page does not offer custom domains on any plan, though Pro includes up to 5 custom subdomains on ship.place (3 to 40 characters of a-z, 0-9 and single hyphens). If you need your own custom domain for free on a non-commercial page, use GitHub Pages with a public repository.
