Put your website files online: a beginner's guide
To put your website files online for free with no signup, drag your website folder, a .zip up to 25 MB or a single .html file up to 10 MB onto ship.page. ship.page publishes it free forever with no signup, no account and no credit card, live in seconds across up to 100 files. Your index.html becomes the home page and relative links to CSS, images and scripts keep working.
A file. A folder. A fresh start.
Your static site, one link away.
Uploading publishes your file. The link is public but unlisted, not password-protected, so leave out secrets and confidential content.

How to put your website files online in three steps
Check that index.html sits at the top of your folder
Open your website folder on your computer and make sure the main page is named index.html in lowercase. Keep your CSS, JavaScript and image folders right next to it so relative links like style.css or images/logo.png match the real file names.
Drag the folder, ZIP or HTML file onto ship.page
Drop the folder directly into the browser uploader, or host a ZIP file if your folder holds more than roughly 7 MB of files. If you only have one page from an AI tool, you can also drag the single .html file or paste the HTML code.
Copy your live HTTPS link or QR code
Your site is live in seconds on its own subdomain with a downloadable PNG QR code. Publish without an account, or claim the page with a free account (no card) and it stays online as long as you keep it.
Four ways to put website files online from your browser
| Route | Folder | ZIP | Account to publish |
|---|---|---|---|
| ship.page | Yes (up to ~7 MB of files) | Yes (up to 25 MB free, 100 MB Pro) | No account needed |
| Netlify Drop | Yes (under 50 MB works best) | Yes (under 50 MB works best) | No, but site stays behind a password until claimed |
| Cloudflare Pages Direct Upload | Yes (up to 1,000 files in dashboard) | Yes | Cloudflare account required |
| GitHub web upload | Yes (up to 100 files at a time) | No (upload unpacked files) | GitHub account required |
How do I prepare my folder before uploading?
Web servers look for a file named index.html to show as your home page. If your file is named home.html or homepage.html, rename it to index.html before you upload your folder or turn a ZIP into a website.
File paths on the web are case-sensitive, unlike on Windows or macOS. If your HTML links to images/Photo.jpg but the file on your computer is named photo.jpg, the image will work on your laptop and break online.
ship.page hosts static files only: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON. It does not run server code like PHP, Node.js, Python, databases or WordPress, so contact forms need a third-party form service.
- Put index.html at the top level of your folder (if you zip a single top folder, ship.page unwraps it automatically).
- Use relative paths like css/style.css instead of local computer paths like C:/Users/you/Desktop/style.css.
- For extra pages, save about/index.html to get the short /about address, or about.html to open at /about.html.
- For single-page apps with client-side routes, use hash routes like #/about because there is no single-page-app fallback.
- Zip folders larger than roughly 7 MB first, since a browser folder upload is sent as one encoded request up to 10 MB.
Which other tools put website files online for free?
If you want drag and drop website hosting with no login at all, ship.page gives you a public link right away. Free pages show a small closeable badge, and every page sends a noindex header so search engines leave it out while anyone with the link can open it.
Netlify Drop (app.netlify.com/drop) also accepts a folder, ZIP or single HTML file with no account to start, and deploys under 50 MB work best while single files over 10 MB may get stuck. However, a site dropped on Netlify without signing in stays behind a temporary password until you claim it with a Netlify account, and unclaimed drops expire on their own.
When you need a custom domain or hundreds of files for free, Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages are the better fit. Cloudflare Pages Direct Upload requires a Cloudflare account, takes up to 1,000 files of 25 MiB each in the dashboard (or 20,000 via the wrangler CLI), and supports 100 custom domains per project at name.pages.dev, though Cloudflare's docs now suggest starting new projects on Workers. GitHub's web upload (Add file, Upload files) takes up to 100 files at a time up to 25 MiB each with no Git installed, and publishes a few minutes later at username.github.io/repository once you pick a branch under Settings, Pages.
How do I host a website made by AI for free?
When ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini writes a webpage for you, it usually gives you one block of code or a single HTML file. Save that code as index.html on your computer, or skip saving a file and paste the code directly into ship.page to go from HTML to a website in seconds.
If the AI generates separate HTML, CSS and JavaScript files, put all of them into one folder on your computer. Drag that folder onto ship.page and all the files will link together automatically.
Tip: If you need to update your AI site later without changing the URL, Pro ($4 a month, cancel anytime) lets you re-upload or edit in place, adds password protection, raises limits to 100 MB ZIPs and 10,000 files, and includes up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.
Questions
How do I get my HTML page on the internet for free?
Go to ship.page and drag your .html file, folder or .zip file into the box, or paste your HTML code directly. You get a live HTTPS link and a QR code in seconds with no signup and no credit card.
Why are my images or CSS missing after I upload my HTML file?
If you only upload the index.html file by itself, your browser cannot see the images or CSS files still sitting on your computer. Put index.html, your CSS and your images into one folder, check that the file names match the exact uppercase and lowercase letters in your code, and drag the whole folder onto ship.page.
Can I upload a single PDF, image or video file by itself?
No, the uploader only takes .html files, .zip files, folders and pasted HTML. To share a PDF, image or video, put it inside a folder or ZIP alongside an index.html file that links to it or embeds it.
Can I update my website files later and keep the same link?
On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place, so uploading a new version creates a new link. On the Pro plan ($4 a month, billed monthly), pages never expire and you can re-upload or edit your page while keeping the exact same link.
Will my uploaded website show up on Google?
No. Every page uploaded to ship.page is served with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public. Anyone you share the link with can open it in their browser.
Can I connect my own custom domain name?
ship.page does not offer custom domains on any plan; Pro includes up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place. If you need your own .com domain on a free plan, use Cloudflare Pages, which supports up to 100 custom domains per project.
