How to publish an HTML file from an iPhone in 4 steps

  1. Save your HTML file or paste the code

If you already have an .html file or a .zip in the iPhone Files app, you are ready. If ChatGPT or another tool wrote HTML for you, either save it to Files as index.html or copy the code to your clipboard.

  2. Open ship.page in Safari

Go to ship.page in Safari on your iPhone. There is no app to install and no account or credit card required.

  3. Pick your file from the Files app or paste HTML

Tap the uploader, choose Browse in the menu, and select your .html file (up to 10 MB) or .zip file (up to 25 MB, 100 files max) from the Files app. You can also switch to paste mode and paste raw HTML straight from your clipboard.

  4. Copy your live link or save the QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS. Tap to copy the URL or download the PNG QR code shown on the success screen to share it right away.

How do I host an HTML page created by ChatGPT on my phone?

When you ask ChatGPT for a webpage on your phone, ask it to put all HTML, CSS and JavaScript in a single file. You do not even need to save a file first: copy the HTML block, open ship.page in Safari, paste the code into the uploader, and publish to get a live link in seconds.

If you prefer to keep a copy on your phone, save the code into the Files app as index.html and use the standard HTML file upload flow. If you only want to look at the file yourself before sharing, read how to open an HTML file locally.

Tip: Single HTML files up to 10 MB work on every plan, so inline CSS, JavaScript and data URLs fit in one paste or upload.

What if my project has a folder with CSS, images or JavaScript?

Most mobile browsers do not let you select a loose folder from a file picker. If your site has separate CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly or JSON files, compress the folder into a single .zip file before you upload.

Make sure index.html is the homepage of your project. If your ZIP has a single top folder, ship.page unwraps it automatically so index.html still opens at the root address.

  • Free plan ZIP limit: up to 25 MB compressed (100 MB unpacked) and up to 100 files per upload.
  • Pro plan ($4/month) ZIP limit: up to 100 MB compressed (400 MB unpacked) and up to 10,000 files per upload.
  • File paths are case-sensitive, so matching image.png in your HTML to Image.png in the ZIP will break on the live link.
  • A lone PDF, image or video file is not accepted by itself; put it in a ZIP with an index.html file.
  • Static files only: server code like PHP, Node.js, Python, databases and WordPress do not run, and forms need a third-party form service.

When should I use GitHub Pages instead of ship.page?

If you want to turn an HTML file into a link from your iPhone in under a minute with no signup, ship.page is the fastest option. You publish without an account, and every uploaded page is sent with a noindex header so search engines leave it out while anyone with the link can open it.

Pick GitHub Pages when you need a custom domain, public search indexing, or a site up to 1 GB. GitHub Pages is free for public repositories on GitHub Free, with a soft bandwidth limit of 100 GB a month and a soft limit of 10 builds an hour, though it is not allowed as free hosting for a commercial, e-commerce or SaaS business.

Using GitHub Pages requires a GitHub account and a repository. GitHub's web upload (Add file, Upload files) takes up to 100 files at a time and 25 MiB per file with no Git installed, and GitHub Pages then publishes from a branch you pick under Settings, Pages, at username.github.io/repository a few minutes later.

How do I manage or update a page after publishing from my phone?

You can publish without an account, or claim the page with a free account (sign in with Google or an email link, no credit card) and it stays online as long as you keep it. On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place; uploading a new version gives you a new link.

On the Pro plan ($4 a month, billed monthly, cancel anytime), pages never expire, or you can pick any expiry from 60 seconds. Pro lets you re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link, add password protection, remove the closable "Hosted on ship.page" badge, and claim up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place that you can point at any of your pages.

Tip: Every upload also gives you an instant website QR code on the success screen with a PNG download so people nearby can scan it from your phone.

Questions

How do I publish an HTML file from my iPhone for free?

Open ship.page in Safari on your iPhone, tap the upload box, and pick your .html file from the Files app. You get a live HTTPS link on its own subdomain in seconds for free, with no app to install and no account or credit card required.

Can I host an HTML page created by ChatGPT on my phone?

Yes. Copy the HTML code from ChatGPT, open ship.page in your phone browser, paste the HTML into the uploader, and publish. You can also save the code as an .html file up to 10 MB in the Files app and select it from there.

Why can't I select a folder of HTML and CSS files on my phone?

Most phone browsers only let you pick individual files, not folders. Compress your folder into a .zip file with an index.html homepage inside, then upload the ZIP (up to 25 MB and 100 files on the free plan, or 100 MB and 10,000 files on Pro).

Can I update my HTML file later and keep the same link?

On the free plan, a page cannot be updated in place, so a new upload gets a new link. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can re-upload or edit your page and keep the exact same URL, plus claim up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.

Will search engines find the HTML file I upload from my phone?

No. Every page uploaded to ship.page is served with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public. Anyone you give the link to can open it in their browser, unless you add password protection on the Pro plan.

Can I use a custom domain with ship.page or GitHub Pages?

No ship.page plan offers custom domains, though the $4 a month Pro plan includes up to 5 custom subdomains on ship.place (3 to 40 characters of a-z, 0-9 and single hyphens). If you need your own custom domain, use GitHub Pages, which supports custom domains on free public repositories.
