How to turn ChatGPT code into a website link

  1. Ask for one self-contained HTML file

Tell the assistant to put all the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into a single index.html code block. This lets you publish the whole page in one copy and paste.

  2. Copy the code or save your folder

Copy the code block directly from the chat. If your site uses photos from your computer or separate CSS and JavaScript files, put index.html and those files into one folder instead.

  3. Paste or drop it into ship.page

Paste the copied HTML into the browser uploader, or drag in your .html file, folder, or .zip archive. No account or credit card is needed.

  4. Share your live HTTPS link or QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own subdomain over HTTPS. Copy the link to send to anyone, or download the PNG QR code shown on the success screen.

Prompt to get a ready-to-publish HTML page

Prompt

Write one complete, self-contained index.html file for a [type of site, e.g., local bakery landing page] with these sections: [sections, e.g., hero with hours, menu grid, customer reviews, and contact info]. Put all CSS inside a <style> tag in the <head> and all JavaScript inside a <script> tag before </body>. Make the layout mobile-first and responsive. Do not use external build tools or frameworks that require installation. Return the entire file in one single HTML code block so I can copy and paste it directly.

Replace the bracketed parts with your details, then paste the resulting code block straight into ship.page.

Why do I need hosting after ChatGPT writes my code?

ChatGPT writes the code for your website, but the page only exists inside your chat until you host it somewhere. Other people cannot open a page that lives in your chat history, so hosting gives your code a public address that opens in any web browser.

With ship.page, you do not need to set up a server or even save a file first. You can paste HTML code to make a website directly from your clipboard, and it goes live on its own HTTPS subdomain in seconds.

What if ChatGPT gave me separate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript blocks?

Often an AI assistant splits a webpage into three code blocks: one for HTML, one for CSS, and one for JavaScript. If you only paste the HTML block, your page will look plain and unstyled.

You have two ways to fix this before you publish AI-generated HTML:

  • Ask the assistant to combine everything into one file with <style> and <script> tags, then paste that single block into ship.page.
  • Save the three blocks on your computer as index.html, style.css, and script.js inside one folder, using the exact file names the HTML refers to, and drag the whole folder into ship.page.

Tip: File paths on ship.page are case-sensitive, so if your HTML links to style.css, naming the file Style.css will prevent the styles from loading.

How do I include photos from my computer?

Photos sitting on your computer are not inside the code ChatGPT wrote. If the HTML points to a file on your desktop, you will see it locally, but visitors opening your link will see a broken image icon.

To include your own photos, put them in the same folder as index.html (for example, inside an images subfolder) and refer to them in the HTML with relative paths like images/photo.jpg. Then drag the whole folder into ship.page, or zip the folder and upload the .zip file.

  • Folder uploads go up as one request of at most 10 MB with the files encoded inside it (roughly 7 MB of files); zip bigger folders first.
  • Free ZIP uploads can be up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) and contain up to 100 files.
  • A lone image, PDF, or video file cannot be uploaded by itself; always include it in a folder or ZIP with an index.html homepage.

What works on ship.page and how long does the link last?

Every upload is served as static files: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly, and JSON all work. Server code like PHP, Node.js, Python, databases, or WordPress does not run here, so contact forms need a third-party form service. See the ChatGPT publishing guide for more workflow tips.

An anonymous upload stays online for 30 days. If you sign in with Google or an email link for a free account, you can claim the upload to keep it online for 90 days. Every page is sent with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and only people with your link can open it.

  • Free pages cannot be updated in place; uploading a revised version from ChatGPT creates a new link.
  • Pro ($4 a month, cancel anytime) gives you permanent links, lets you re-upload or edit a page and keep the same link, adds password protection, removes the small closable badge, and raises the limits to 100 MB ZIPs and 10,000 files.
  • Team ($19 a month) includes everything in Pro plus a vanity subdomain; check pricing and plan limits for full details.

Questions

How do I publish a website ChatGPT made for free?

Copy the HTML code from ChatGPT and paste it into the uploader on ship.page. You get a live HTTPS link and a downloadable QR code in seconds with no signup and no credit card.

Do I need to save the ChatGPT code as an HTML file first?

No, if all your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are in one block, you can paste the code directly into ship.page without saving a file. You only need to save files into a folder if your site uses separate CSS or JavaScript files or local images from your computer.

Why does my published ChatGPT website have no styling or broken images?

Missing styles happen when ChatGPT puts the CSS in a second code block that was not included. Ask ChatGPT to put the CSS inside a <style> tag in index.html, or save both index.html and style.css in one folder and upload the folder. For broken images, put the image files in the folder with index.html, use relative paths like images/photo.jpg, and upload the whole folder.

How long does a free ChatGPT website link stay online?

A link published without an account stays online for 30 days. If you sign in with a free account using Google or an email link, you can claim the upload so it stays online for 90 days. Upgrading to Pro for $4 a month keeps your pages online permanently.

Can I update my link after I ask ChatGPT for changes?

On the free tier, pages cannot be updated in place, so pasting new code gives you a new link. On the Pro plan ($4 a month), you can re-upload or edit your page and keep the exact same link.

Can I connect a custom domain to my ChatGPT site on ship.page?

No, ship.page does not offer custom domains on any plan. Every site is published on its own HTTPS subdomain, and the Team plan ($19 a month) lets you pick a vanity subdomain.
