How to put a class web page online
Generate or write your index.html file
Copy the prompt below into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and fill in your class details. Save the code it gives you as a file named index.html.
Add worksheet PDFs in a folder if needed
If you only have links and due dates, keep the single index.html file (up to 10 MB). To include printable handouts, put index.html and your PDFs into one folder (roughly 7 MB of files) or zip them together (up to 25 MB and 100 files on the free plan).
Drop your file or folder onto ship.page
Drag your index.html file, folder or .zip file into the box on this page, or paste the HTML code directly. You do not need an account or a credit card.
Share the link or show the QR code on the board
Your page is live in seconds on its own HTTPS subdomain. Copy the URL for your parent newsletter or download the PNG QR code from the success screen to project on the board.
Prompt for a complete class web page
Prompt
Write a complete, self-contained index.html file (with all CSS and JavaScript inline) for a class web page for [class and term, e.g., 8th Grade Science - Fall Term]. Include four clear sections: 1) This week's assignments with due dates: [list assignments and due dates]. 2) A resources list with clickable links: [list resource names and URLs]. 3) A downloads section linking to files inside a relative 'files/' folder: [list filenames like files/syllabus.pdf, files/worksheet-1.pdf and their titles]. 4) Teacher contact info and office hours: [your email, room number, and hours]. Use a clean layout with large readable text, high contrast, mobile-friendly spacing, no external libraries, and @media print CSS rules so the page prints cleanly on paper.
Paste the result into a plain text file named index.html, or paste the code straight into ship.page.

How do I attach worksheet PDFs and handouts to my class page?
ship.page does not accept a lone PDF, image or video file by itself. To share handouts, put your PDFs in a folder alongside index.html and link to them with a relative path such as files/worksheet.pdf.
When a student clicks that link, the worksheet PDF opens right in the browser. Remember that file paths are case-sensitive, so Files/Worksheet.PDF will not match files/worksheet.pdf.
- Single HTML file limit: up to 10 MB on every plan.
- Folder drag-and-drop limit: roughly 7 MB of files (10 MB encoded request).
- ZIP upload limit: up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) and 100 files on the free plan; zip larger folders using our ZIP to website tool.
- Static files only: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, audio, video and PDFs inside a folder all work.
Can students and parents open the link without signing in?
Students and parents open the page in any phone, tablet or laptop browser without an account or login. Every upload gets a QR code on the success screen with a PNG download, which you can project on the classroom board or print on a syllabus; see our website QR code guide for details.
Every uploaded page is sent with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page never lists uploads anywhere public. Anyone with the link can open it, and if you want extra privacy, the $4/month Pro plan adds password protection.
Tip: Free pages show a small 'Hosted on ship.page' badge that visitors can close; Pro and Team pages never show it.
How do I keep the same link all semester and update assignments?
Free uploads stay online for 30 days with no account, or 90 days when you sign in with Google or an email link to claim the upload. That works well for a single unit, a quiz website, or a school project website, but a free page cannot be updated in place: uploading a new version creates a new link.
If you want one link printed on your syllabus for the whole school year, Pro is $4 a month (billed monthly, cancel anytime). Pro pages never expire, and you can re-upload or edit your class page every week while keeping the exact same URL and QR code.
- Free ($0): 30 days anonymous, 90 days claimed, new link on every upload.
- Pro ($4/month): pages never expire, update in place on the same link, password protection, ZIPs up to 100 MB and 10,000 files.
- Team ($19/month): everything in Pro plus a vanity subdomain for your classroom or department.

Questions
Is this class website really free without ads?
Yes. Publishing an HTML file, folder or ZIP is free with no signup and no commercial ads. Free pages display a small Hosted on ship.page badge that visitors can close, while the $4 a month Pro plan removes the badge completely.
Do students or parents need an account to view the page?
No. Students and parents just click the link or scan the QR code to open the page in any phone, tablet or laptop browser. No login, app install or student email account is required.
Will my class page show up on Google?
No. Every page hosted on ship.page includes a noindex header that tells search engines not to index it, and ship.page does not list uploads in any public directory. Only people who have your link can view the page, and Pro lets you add a password.
Can I upload a single PDF worksheet by itself?
No, the uploader does not accept a standalone PDF, image or video file. Put your PDF inside a folder or ZIP file together with an index.html page that links to it, and the PDF will open in the browser when clicked.
What happens when I update next week's homework?
On the free plan, pages cannot be edited in place, so uploading an updated file gives you a new link. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can re-upload or edit your page as often as you want and keep the exact same link and QR code.
Can I collect homework submissions or run forms on the page?
ship.page hosts static files only and does not run server code or a database. To collect responses from students or parents, link out to or embed a third-party form service on your HTML page.
