How to publish your free event website

  1. Create a free RSVP form in Google Forms

Make a form in Google Forms, which is free with a Google Account. Copy its share link so you can attach it to the RSVP button on your page.

  2. Generate your index.html event page

Paste the prompt on this page into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with your date, venue address, schedule and Google Form link. Save the code it gives you as a file named index.html, or keep it on your clipboard.

  3. Drop the file on ship.page

Drag your index.html file, a folder with photos, or a ZIP up to 25 MB onto ship.page, or paste the HTML directly. You do not need an account or credit card.

  4. Share the link and download the QR code

Your page is live in seconds on its own HTTPS subdomain. Copy the link for group chats, and download the PNG QR code from the success screen to print on paper invites.

Prompt to generate a single-file event website

Prompt

Build a complete, mobile-first event website as a single self-contained index.html file with all CSS and JavaScript inline. The event is [event, e.g., the Miller Family Reunion / Sam's 30th Birthday Party]. Include these sections: 1) Header with the event name, date [date], and start/end time [time] with the time zone [time zone] written next to every time. 2) A prominent RSVP button at the top and bottom linking to [Google Form link]. 3) Venue section for [venue name and full address] with a button linking to https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=[URL-encoded address]. 4) Schedule of events: [list times and activities]. 5) What to bring: [list items]. 6) FAQ section: [parking, kids, pets, dress code, food]. Use clean, high-contrast typography and responsive spacing that is easy to read on a phone.

Replace the bracketed details with your party or reunion info, paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and upload the output to ship.page.

What should go on a party or family reunion website

A good event website puts every detail on one mobile screen so guests stop texting the host for the address. Unlike a basic invitation website that only asks for an RSVP, a full event page covers the schedule, packing list and local rules.

If you want to add photos of the venue or a printable park map, put your index.html and image files together in a folder or a ZIP file. A lone PDF or image file is not accepted by itself, so always include an index.html homepage.

  • Date and time: write the time zone next to every time to help guests who travel in.
  • Place and map: use https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=<address> so the venue opens in Google Maps on phones and computers.
  • Schedule: list arrival times, meals, group photos and checkout times.
  • What to bring: list chairs, drinks, potluck dishes, swimwear or warm layers.
  • Guest FAQ: answer questions about parking, gate codes, kids, pets and dress code.
  • RSVP button: link straight to your Google Form so answers flow into one sheet.

Tip: For multi-day family reunions with flights and hotels, see how to format a travel itinerary page, or add a clock using the countdown page guide.

How do I collect RSVPs on a static event page

ship.page hosts static files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images) and does not run server code or databases. To collect RSVPs without a backend, link your RSVP button to a Google Form.

Google Forms is free with a Google Account, collects responses like headcounts, dietary restrictions or quiz answers, and can send them straight to Google Sheets. When guests tap the button on their phone, they fill out the form in seconds and you get a clean spreadsheet for catering.

How do I keep the address private or update the schedule later

Every uploaded page is sent with a noindex header, so search engines leave it out, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public. Still, anyone who has the link can open a free page.

If the page lists a home address, say for a house party or a birthday website, upgrade to Pro for $4 a month so only invited guests can see it. Pro lets you put a password on the page and lets you re-upload or edit your HTML when the schedule changes while keeping the exact same link and website QR code.

Tip: A free page cannot be updated in place. Uploading a new file on the free plan creates a new link, so choose Pro before you print paper invites with the QR code if your details might change.

What are the size limits, and when do I need another tool?

On the free plan, you can upload a single HTML file up to 10 MB, or a ZIP up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files. Folder uploads go up as a single request of at most 10 MB (roughly 7 MB of files), so zip larger photo folders before uploading. No plan meters bandwidth.

ship.page does not offer custom domains on any plan, and free pages show a small "Hosted on ship.page" badge that visitors can close (Pro and Team pages never show it). ship.page has no ticketing, reminders or guest list of its own, so use a dedicated event service if you need those.

Questions

How do I make a free event website without signing up?

Write or generate an index.html file with your event details, then drag and drop it onto ship.page. Your page goes live in seconds over HTTPS with no account and no credit card, and stays online for 30 days.

How long does a free party or reunion website stay online?

An unclaimed upload stays online for 30 days. If your event is further out, sign in with Google or an email link to claim the upload on a free account and keep it online for 90 days.

How do I add an RSVP form to my event page?

Create a free form in Google Forms, copy its share link, and set that URL as the link on your HTML RSVP button. Google Forms collects the responses and can send them to Google Sheets.

Can I get a QR code for printed invitations?

Yes. As soon as you upload your file, folder or ZIP, the ship.page success screen shows a QR code for your live link with a PNG download button.

Can I edit the event schedule after I share the link?

On the free plan, pages cannot be updated in place and a new upload gets a new link. On the Pro plan ($4 a month, cancel anytime), you can re-upload or edit your page and keep the exact same link and QR code.

Will my family reunion details show up on Google search?

No. Every page on ship.page is served with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and uploads are never listed in a public directory. For extra privacy, Pro ($4 a month) adds password protection.
