Host a UX or graphic design portfolio with a password
Drag your portfolio into ship.page as an HTML file, a folder or a ZIP up to 25 MB (100 files) for a free HTTPS link in seconds, no signup. Pro at $4 a month adds password protection for NDA case studies, and a public portfolio stays online for 30 days, or 90 days with a free account.
A file. A folder. A fresh start.
Your static site, one link away.
Uploading publishes your file. The link is public but unlisted, not password-protected, so leave out secrets and confidential content.
- Long edge in JPEG or WebP keeps most images under 1 MB
- 2,000 px
- Free ZIP limit (100 MB unpacked, 100 files)
- 25 MB
- Pro plan for passwords and permanent links
- $4/mo
- Free link lifetime without an account
- 30 days
How to publish your design portfolio and case studies
Put your homepage and case studies in one folder
Place your main index.html at the root of your project folder. Put each project in its own subfolder, such as case-study/index.html, so it opens cleanly at /case-study/ on the same link.
Export mockups at 2,000 pixels on the long edge
Save high-resolution screens and photos as JPEG or WebP at about 2,000 pixels on the long edge to keep most image files well under 1 MB. If your folder has more than roughly 7 MB of files, compress it into a .zip file first.
Drag the folder or ZIP onto ship.page
Drop your .html file, folder or .zip directly into the browser uploader with no account and no credit card. Your portfolio is live in seconds on its own HTTPS subdomain, complete with a downloadable PNG QR code for your resume.
Add a password for NDA work on Pro
If your portfolio includes confidential client work, upgrade to Pro for $4 a month to lock the link behind a password. You can then send the URL and password to recruiters and update your files anytime without changing the address.
Free vs. Pro for design portfolios
| Need | Free | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Public portfolio link | 30 days (or 90 days if claimed) | Included |
| Password-protected case studies | Not included | Included (covers the whole link) |
| Update without changing the link | New upload gets a new link | Re-upload or edit in place |
| Link that never expires | Expires after 30 or 90 days | Never expires (or custom expiry) |
| Files per upload | Up to 100 files (25 MB ZIP) | Up to 10,000 files (100 MB ZIP) |
How do I share NDA case studies with recruiters?
Designers often cannot show client work in public. Every page uploaded to ship.page is served with a noindex header, which tells search engines not to list your work in search results, and ship.page never lists uploads in a public directory.
When a non-disclosure agreement means the work has to sit behind a password, password-protected previews on the $4 a month Pro plan or $19 a month Team plan lock your upload. Because password protection covers the whole link, you can keep a free public portfolio website for general browsing and a separate, password-protected Pro link for NDA case studies.
Tip: Pro also removes the small closable Hosted on ship.page badge and lets you update mockups in place while keeping the exact same URL you already sent to a hiring manager.
How should I structure folders for multiple projects?
One upload can hold your landing page and every project. Put your main portfolio page at index.html, then create a subfolder for each project with its own index.html inside it.
A folder named case-study with its own index.html opens at /case-study/ on the same link. If you save a file as about.html instead of about/index.html, visitors must open it at /about.html.
- File paths are case-sensitive, so Hero.jpg and hero.jpg are treated as different files.
- If you zip a project folder, a single top folder inside the ZIP is unwrapped automatically.
- Single-page React or Vue portfolios should use hash routes like #/case-study because there is no single-page-app fallback.
- PDFs or images are not accepted on their own; place any PDF resume inside your folder alongside index.html.
How do I keep image-heavy UX case studies under the size limit?
UX and graphic design portfolios are full of process photos, Figma exports and screen recordings. Exporting photos at about 2,000 pixels on the long edge as JPEG or WebP keeps most files well under 1 MB.
A browser folder upload goes up as one request of at most 10 MB with the files encoded inside it, which fits roughly 7 MB of actual files. For bigger portfolios, turn your folder into a ZIP first: ZIP uploads support up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) and 100 files on the free plan, or up to 100 MB (400 MB unpacked) and 10,000 files on Pro and Team.
Tip: Photos that are already saved as JPEG or WebP barely shrink inside a ZIP, so resize your exports before zipping the folder.
What files work in a static design portfolio?
Your portfolio can use any static frontend files: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, custom fonts, audio, video, JSON and WebAssembly all work out of the box. You can also present spatial or 3D renders the same way you would on an architecture portfolio website.
Server-side code such as PHP, Node.js, Python, databases and WordPress does not run on ship.page. If your portfolio has a contact form, connect it to a third-party form service, or link directly to your email address.
Questions
How do I host a UX portfolio with password-protected case studies?
Put your portfolio and case study folders into a single folder or ZIP and upload it to ship.page. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can turn on password protection so anyone opening the link must enter your password before viewing your work.
Can I password protect just one folder inside my portfolio?
Password protection on ship.page covers the whole link rather than an individual subfolder. If you want a public homepage and private case studies, upload your public portfolio on one link and upload your NDA case studies as a second, password-protected link on Pro.
Will Google index my private client work?
No. Every page hosted on ship.page is sent with a noindex header so search engines leave it out, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public. On the free tier, anyone who has the exact link can open it; on Pro, you can also require a password.
How long does a free design portfolio link stay online?
A free upload without an account stays online for 30 days. If you sign in with Google or an email link to claim the upload, it stays online for 90 days at no cost. On the $4 a month Pro plan, links never expire unless you set a custom expiry.
Can I update a case study after sending the link to a recruiter?
On the free plan, pages cannot be updated in place, so uploading a fixed version creates a new link. On Pro ($4 a month) and Team ($19 a month), you can re-upload or edit your portfolio and keep the exact same link.
Can I connect my own custom domain to my portfolio?
No plan on ship.page offers custom domains. Every upload gets its own HTTPS subdomain, and the $19 a month Team plan lets you pick a vanity subdomain.
