How to publish a static folder or ZIP without GitHub on ship.page

  1. Check your index.html file

Make sure your project folder or ZIP has an index.html file at the root so it loads as the homepage. If your ZIP has a single top folder, ship.page unwraps it automatically.

  2. Drag your HTML file, folder or ZIP into ship.page

Open ship.page in your browser and drop in a single .html file up to 10 MB, a folder (roughly 7 MB of files), or a .zip archive up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked, up to 100 files). You can also paste raw HTML directly.

  3. Share your live HTTPS link or QR code

Your site goes live in seconds on its own subdomain with HTTPS. The confirmation screen gives you the link and a downloadable PNG QR code with no account required.

  4. Claim your page or deploy from the terminal

Publish without an account, or claim the page with a free account (no card) to manage it from a dashboard. If you prefer a command line workflow without npm, you can also send files with one curl command to https://ship.page/deploy.

How do you deploy to Vercel without a GitHub account?

Vercel gives you two ways to publish local files without connecting a Git repository: Vercel Drop in the browser and the Vercel CLI in your terminal. Both methods accept local folders directly from your computer.

Vercel Drop (at vercel.com/drop) lets you drag a file, folder or ZIP into your browser with no Git and no command line. Since October 19, 2026, static sites work on Vercel Drop without an account, but those anonymous deployments expire after one hour unless you sign in and claim the project. Framework projects on Vercel Drop require a signed-in Vercel account from the start.

If you like working in a terminal, standard Vercel CLI deploys need a Vercel account, though they do not need GitHub. Since October 2026, running vercel deploy --temporary publishes a local folder without a Vercel account to a temporary address that also expires after one hour unless you claim it.

  • Vercel Drop: browser upload for a file, folder or ZIP, 1-hour limit without an account.
  • vercel deploy --temporary: terminal upload without an account, 1-hour limit unless claimed.
  • Standard Vercel CLI: terminal upload with a signed-in Vercel account, no Git required.
  • Vercel Hobby plan: $0 for personal, non-commercial use with 100 deployments a day.

When should you use ship.page instead of Vercel?

If you are uploading a static HTML, CSS and JavaScript site and do not want a one-hour countdown timer on an unclaimed link, ship.page is built for the job. You drop an HTML file, folder or ZIP file into the browser and get a live HTTPS URL in seconds with no signup and no credit card. You can read a full breakdown on our Vercel comparison page.

Developers who want terminal publishing without installing a CLI can use our HTML hosting API with a single curl command (POST https://ship.page/deploy) or connect through the MCP server at https://ship.page/mcp. And if you later decide to connect a repository, ship.page also has a GitHub Action.

Pick Vercel instead when your project needs a framework build step, server-side code, or a custom domain. Vercel Hobby is free for personal, non-commercial projects and includes 100 GB of fast data transfer and 1,000,000 CDN requests a month on a vercel.app address, while commercial use on Vercel Pro starts at $20 a month. For more options, see our guide to Vercel alternatives.

Tip: On ship.page, every uploaded page sends a noindex header so search engines stay out, and links are never listed publicly.

What are the limits on ship.page Free and Pro?

The free forever plan on ship.page has no trial, no ads, unlimited uploads and no bandwidth limits. Each upload can be a single HTML file up to 10 MB, a folder up to one 10 MB request (roughly 7 MB of files), or a ZIP up to 25 MB (100 MB unpacked) with up to 100 files, at a rate of 10 deploys a minute.

You can publish without an account, and you can claim the page with a free account (sign in with Google or an email link, no card) to manage it from a dashboard. A free page cannot be updated in place; uploading a new version creates a new link.

ship.page Pro is $4 a month (billed monthly, cancel anytime) and is not restricted to non-commercial use. Pro pages don't expire while you're on Pro (or let you pick any expiry from 60 seconds), let you re-upload or edit a page while keeping the same link, add password protection, and raise limits to 100 MB ZIPs (400 MB unpacked), 10,000 files per upload, and 120 deploys a minute. Pro also includes up to 5 custom subdomains like yourname.ship.place.

  • Static files only: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, audio, video, WebAssembly and JSON.
  • No server code: no Node.js, PHP, Python, databases or WordPress.
  • Client-side routing: there is no single-page-app fallback, so React or Vue apps should use hash routes like #/about.
  • Case-sensitive paths: about.html opens at /about.html, while /about/ works when saved as about/index.html.
