How to make a free resume website with a short link

Drop your resume as an .html file up to 10 MB or a ZIP up to 25 MB on ship.page for a free one-page site and short link, no signup. You can paste the HTML instead, and your online CV opens over HTTPS on any phone and stays live for 30 days, or 90 days when you claim it with a free account.

How to put your resume online as a link

  1. Turn your resume text into an index.html file

Copy the prompt on this page into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini along with your current resume text. It returns one self-contained HTML file with your summary, experience, skills, education and contact details.

  2. Drop the HTML file or paste the code on ship.page

Drag your index.html file onto the uploader, pick a folder or .zip if you want to include a headshot image, or paste the raw HTML straight into the browser. You do not need an account or credit card.

  3. Copy your link and download the QR code

Your resume website is live in seconds on its own HTTPS subdomain. Copy the short link for your email signature or job applications, and download the PNG QR code from the success screen to drop onto your printed PDF resume.

  4. Claim the page to keep it online longer

An unclaimed upload stays online for 30 days. Sign in with Google or an email link and claim it to keep it live for 90 days for free, or upgrade to Pro for $4 a month to keep the same URL forever and edit it whenever you update your roles.

Prompt

Turn my resume below into a single, self-contained index.html file with all CSS and JavaScript inline and no external fonts or scripts. Design it mobile-first with clean typography, generous spacing, and high contrast. Include sections for Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, and Contact. Add a @media print stylesheet that hides any web-only buttons, sets a white background, and formats the page cleanly so a recruiter can save it as a PDF using the browser's Print command. Here is my resume text: [paste your resume text] Links to include in the Contact section: [email, phone, LinkedIn, GitHub or portfolio URLs]

Paste the generated code straight into ship.page or save it as index.html and drag it in.

Why use an HTML resume instead of a PDF on a phone?

Recruiters often open links from an email or text message on a phone, where a two-column PDF requires pinching and zooming. A one-page HTML resume reflows to fit any screen size and loads fast over HTTPS.

When you include an @media print section in your CSS, one HTML file does both jobs. Visitors read the responsive version on their phones, and hiring managers at a desk can press Print in their browser to save a clean PDF copy.

Tip: ship.page does not accept a PDF file on its own. If you want to offer your original PDF as a download alongside your web resume, put the PDF and your index.html inside a folder or .zip file and upload that.

How do I add a QR code to my printed resume?

As soon as your upload finishes, the success screen displays a QR code for your live URL with a button to download it as a PNG. You can place that PNG in the header or footer of your print resume, on a digital business card, or on a badge for a career fair.

If you print the QR code on paper or send the URL in applications, consider the $4 a month Pro plan on the pricing page. A free page cannot be updated in place, so fixing a typo means uploading a new file and getting a new URL. Pro lets you edit or re-upload your resume while keeping the exact same link and website QR code.

Who can see my resume during a job search?

When you are looking for work quietly, you usually want recruiters with your application to see your CV without having your phone number and work history show up in Google search results.

Every page hosted on ship.page is served with a noindex HTTP header, and uploads are never listed in a public directory. Anyone who has your link can open it right away, while search engines leave it out of their index. On the Pro plan, you can also add password protection to the link.

  • Share your link in an email signature, LinkedIn profile or application form.
  • Expand into a full free portfolio website or free personal website by uploading a ZIP up to 25 MB (100 files max on free).
  • Turn AI-written HTML into a site using our guide on HTML code to website publishing.
  • Remember that file paths are case-sensitive, so match headshot.jpg and Headshot.jpg exactly if you include a photo.

Questions

How do I make a resume website for free?

Ask an AI assistant to format your resume text as a single index.html file, then drag that file onto ship.page or paste the HTML directly. It goes live in seconds over HTTPS with no signup and no credit card, and stays online for 30 days (or 90 days if you claim it with a free account).

Can I upload a PDF resume directly to ship.page?

No, the uploader only accepts .html files, .zip files, folders and pasted HTML. To include a PDF, put the PDF in a folder with an index.html file that links to it, or use an HTML resume with a print stylesheet so visitors can print to PDF from their browser.

Will my online resume show up on Google?

No. Every uploaded page is sent with a noindex header so search engines do not index it, and ship.page does not list uploads anywhere public. Only people who have your link or scan your QR code can view it.

What happens if I need to fix a typo on my resume link?

On the free tier, pages cannot be edited in place, so uploading a fixed file creates a new URL. On the $4 a month Pro plan, you can edit or re-upload your resume as many times as you like and keep the same link and QR code.

Can I use my own custom domain name for my CV?

No, ship.page does not offer custom domains on any plan. Every upload gets its own HTTPS subdomain, and the $19 a month Team plan includes a vanity subdomain.
